Tremadog Parking Update

Following the post earlier this year, there has been a change in the opening times for the Car Park at the Cowshed @ Hadfer Glamping site.

The car park is currently open from 8am to 8pm and is managed by Countrywide Parking with an ANPR system.  Payment for parking is made by the use of the JustPark app, by text or by phone, just follow the instructions on the signs. The cost is dependant on the period of parking booked. Parking places can now be reserved via the JustPark app.

We would like to encourage all climbers wishing to climb on Bwlch Y Moch to use the car park and support local businesses, as parking along the verge is becoming dangerous on busy days.

If you have an epic (back down after 8pm) please contact Just Park on 0800 999 1032.

For details of when the Cowshed is open for food please check the website cowshed.wales. Currently they serve Pieminister Pies, drinks, cake & snacks with takeaways available.

Toilets are available in The Cowshed (formerly the café), for customers, when it is open. Access onto the Glamping site or it car park, is only allowed to Glamping guests and the closest public toilets are in Porthmadog itself.

The car park is also a pick up point for the Sherpa bus service which goes via Croesor and Nant Gwynant to Pen Y Pass.

Thank you for your support.

Thanks for the update. Glad it’s extended, but it’s a shame this still limits climbers to having to be back down by 8pm, particularly those on after-work missions! Surely just incentivises people to use the lay-by more...

parking charges profits, or at least a fee, go to the cowshed: they could at least allow use of their toilets.

This is certainly stretching the term "support local business", erm..... country... wide...

If your planning on staying later than 8pm, then using the layby is fine, but there is concern that an accident will happen on the road on busy weekends. So when you can please use the car park.

Thanks

In reply to daWalt: it’s only £3.50 per day, hardly enough for Sunak to be considering a windfall tax

Countrywide will pay a fee to the owner

In reply to Moacs:

Almost certainly, the deal will be that the owner of the car park keeps the actual parking charges, and Countrywide will keep any income from the invoices they issue to overstayers.  As such, they won't be minded to let anyone off.

If anyone picks up a PCN here, do not appeal it by resort to mitigating circumstances (such as having had a bit of an epic).  They are a member of the IPC, which is a kangaroo court that boasts of rejecting 99% of all appeals.  You will need specialist advice from pepipoo or MSE.

Sure, it's not going to break the bank. But there's a general lack of facility to download when you're out and about, not just a tremadog. And the woods round the crag are really not suitable for logging off.

Absolutely this, go to pepipoo for help and pro forma letters.

I can see why you think 8pm is not late enough for after work missions when you are travelling from Norfolk!

In reply to daWalt: dear me! However do you manage in the Pass or at Frogatt or most other crags? Why should your bowels be the responsibility of a private business?

Yes, what we need in Tremadoc is a similar solution to that which is deployed at other crags.

Great news, thanks to you and the owners for sorting this out.
