Former Gillan and briefly Ozzy guitarist bernie Torme has died from pneumomia.

Gillan's Future Shock album was one of the first I ever bought as a kid so I played it a lot, as you do when you're a kid and you've only got 3 albums, so I developed quite an affection for his playing.

Stepping in to take over with Ozzy after Randy Rhoads died was a lot to ask of anyone, especially as he only had about a week to learn the entire set and he didn't even know the songs, he had to buy the albums and just listen to them to work the songs out!

That sad to hear - got several of his albums (some are better than others, it would be fair to say), but he was seriously talented. He was superb live.

In reply to Ian W:

Was a big fan of the Deep Purple splinter bands in the eighties and saw him loads when he was with Gillan ( obligitary Glasgow Apollo mention)

Hell of a guitarist!

Sad news.
I saw Bernie play with Gillan on the Glory Road tour.
A fantastic night.
