Best free audio ripper

I'm after ripping some music from the likes of 'youtube' and was wondering what is the easiest way to do it? Any advice appreciated.

There's lots of add ins for Firefox web browser. My daughter uses one which is really easy to use and produces a reasonable mp3. Can't remember what it's called.
