Yes you could hear in Marc's voice it affected him. Me too. I loved Screaming Trees, their 3rd album is in my top 10 ever. So talented, but unfortunately like many also so troubled.

I don't know if you have ever watched 'Parts Unknown' on Netflix which is a brilliant travel series  by Anthony Bourdain. The Seattle episode features Lanegan as a guest, and he also contributed a lot of the music to the series, including the brilliant theme track.

Another one of my musical heroes gone. Screaming trees were the soundtrack to my high school years.

He was a real survivor, I highly recommend his autobiography ’Sing backwards and Weep’ - led quite a life!

His solo work post Trees is very prolific and really shows his song writing talents as does his debut album The Winding Sheet, mostly acoustic, that he released between ST albums -

He was working on a second part to his autobiography (post rehab) I believe and new material.

Dust is one of the finest albums of all time. Mark's voice was like honey poured over hot coals, the music equally beautiful. A real loss.

Absolutely f*cking fantastic.The whole band are on fire, Grohl is a maniac! Considering Lanegan's history it's funny seeing him dressed like a redneck.
