So professional northerners Freddie Flintoff and Paddy McGuinness have been signed up to front the next series of the Beeb's flagship car show.

Will they be renaming it T'Op Gear?

Will it only feature Jowetts and TVR s?

Wasn’t “slugger” Clarkson from Doncaster?

I would consider t’ a much more Yorkshire thing than a Lancashire thing, although not exclusively.

Both these men are Lancastrian, Preston and Bolton and Top Gear has had a number of Yorkshire born presenters, not least Clarkson of Doncaster.

Hint of desperation about it. Time to give it up?

Agreed. The spectacular success of Top Gear relied on the chemistry of the presenters and it also captured the zeitgeist of the noughties perfectly.

Changing presenters is like changing the entire line up of the Rolling Stones and expecting the new guys to be just as successful.
