I'm currently reading 'Memoirs of a Mountaineer' by F. Spencer Chapman, a book I picked up years ago in a charity shop but have only just got round to reading. Some man! 

Apparently he was the subject of 'This is Your Life' in 1964. I've been hunting around online for this episode but no luck. Would anyone on here be able to point me in the right direction? I appreciate this is a long time ago in TV terms but there seems to be plenty of much older episodes floating around the web so it may be somewhere! IMDB tells me it is Series 9 Episode 3.

No idea about TIYL but that book is great. Read it a couple of times over the years. I'd like to read his other books as well, particularly on his Greenland expedition with Gino Watkins.

Yes. I find it fascinating that he'd done all that and written most of the book by the age of thirty, and some of his most famous exploits were yet to come in WW2. Also it shows that some things in climbing are eternal- moaning about long walk ins, beginners etc.
