/ Ben Nevis descents.
Would appreciate confirmation or otherwise about the indicator posts above Coire Leis and Number Four Gully. Also the current state of the plateau exit into Number Four Gully.
Any other general advice about descents to CIC would be appreciated, we do have the guidebooks !
Good cairn a wee bit back from the summer start to No. 4
Best descent is Ledge Route
From the summit to Coire Leis there are a number of triangular indictor posts. The path is very vague in areas where the terrain is larger scree/boulders but generally head left. A large cairn marks marks the descent into Coire Leis back to the CIC hut which eases as you go down into the coire, thereafter stay left to pick up tracks back to the hut. The abseil post are long gone.
Nos 4 is not a summer descent, if you wish to go in that direction descending Ledge group is an option.
I know this is probably not what you're after, and you probably know about it, but if you fancy the non-technical (ie longer) descent there is a good path that veers off from the tourist track at Lochan Meall An T-suidhe and winds back all the way to the CIC.
Would agree that no 4 is not a great summer descent. It's doable but not that pleasant. Having done it back in the early 90s, and then again recently, I remember it being a reasonable scree descent, but now more unstable boulders / mud etc.
