I've just moved to North Yorks (Northallerton) and was wondering what the best guidebooks were for the area? There seems to be hundreds of crags and almost as many guides, so a few pointers for which guides would best cover the surrounding area would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Dave.

In reply to Dave 88: Old NYM guide is out of print now :O( some crags are covered in the rockfax northern england guide (and some yorkshire grit) which wont be too far for you slipstones etc.
Bouldering guide for the moors coming out soon.
I can loan you the out of print guide if you want as i don't often use it now.

In reply to Dave 88:
Check out the website climbonline.co.uk.
If you go into the 'north east action' there's a section that's got most of the crags on the moors with some decent topo's
Think the website is by the folks who produced the old nym guide, Steve Crowe et al.

Thanks for all the replies that's really helpful.

Jas; cheers for the offer but I'm away with work for a while now so won't even have a chance to use it. Typical!
