Been to the Calanques 3 times (if you've never been - go!)
but have never climbed on Cap Canaille: it's the big orange (sunset) wall above Cassis

I'll be there in 3 weeks - anyone got any recommendations 5a-7a on Cap Canaille?

I'll be there with a group of sport climbers... is it reasonably solid & equipped?

In reply to Carless:

Apparently completely solid despite appearances (I haven't been, but a mate has done quite a lot there). Have a look on the camptocamp sorties. Seems to be very poular this year. Scroll down under the google map.

Just got back

Fabulous place, many different rock types even in the same route (sandstone, limestone, conglomerate, etc), amazing rock formations

Did 3 excellent routes on Canaille in 3 different sectors:

Bienvenue chez Damocles - outrageous rock, fine caving pitch, excellent 6c traverse on conglomerate pebbles

Bleu Comme la Mer Rouge - also amazingly varied rock, entertaining 7a+ on overhanging pebbles

Bourreur de Rousse - excellent 6a+ jug pulling up impending sandstone wall

Not my photos
