Chamonix area Via Ferrata

Hello guys,

I am off down to Cham at the start of July with a friend who has not done a great deal of adventure climbing. Before we get on to some of the more usual bits and pieces I wanted to take her off on a few Via Ferratas just to see how her head copes and how comfortably she is moving.

Any recommendations? She's very fit and technically a decent climber. So physicality not an issue.

Thanks,

Fred

Hello Fred,

"Via Des Evettes" is a good place to start as the first part is the usual via-ferrata and the second part is a via-corda which is a very good training ground for adventure climbing.

Via Des Evettes (VF3A)

It is easily accessible especially when the lift is running.

"Curalla" above Sallanches has a exposed feel but is very secured. However It is very busy.

This may help https://www.chamonix.net/english/mountaineering/via-ferrata

There's also a newish one in Flegere

I did the Passy one on a rest day some years ago and it was nice enough

The Flégère cable car is closed for the entire summer 2019. Only the Index chairlift will be open.

Thanks guys. Very helpful. Anyone know roughly how long a hike would take for a relatively fit party up to Flegere?

A hour and a half to the VF (including the 20 minutes from Flegere to the VF ).

Great, thanks. Well nip up and have a bash!
