Its been a few years since I was in Chamonix and it looks like my previous go to campsite opposite the hospital no longer offers camping. What is the campsite of choice these days that is walking distance to the town centre?

The Argentiere campsite - 'Camping du Glacier D'Argentiere'

Seconded - it's a wonderful place with lovely owners.

Have stayed several times at Camping les Arolles and always enjoyed the experience. Jean-Luc who runs the place is kind and speaks English and likes the Irish (assuming from the username). Its also quite close to town.

Does this campsite have the option of storing excess gear/kit while up on alpine routes??

If not, do you know anywhere in Cham that has storage lockers to rent etc?

Hi Jordan,

Yes, he has a cellar where you can store your gear while away - we usually packed down the tent while up on the mountains or in a hut - it is a small fee for each night, but cheaper than keeping the tent place He is very accommodating.

A third thumbs up for the Argentiere campsite. 

Had a great 2 weeks there last August. Great facilities. Even has a bar!
