In reply to lee2k1:

Torquay doesn't have the friendliest top roping venues. It might be possible at Meadfoot http://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crag.php?id=1128 or on harder grades at Telegraph Hole http://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crag.php?id=284.
The problems you will encounter are lots of loose rock at the top of Meadfoot which is easily dislodged by your top rope, many of the lines are a bit diagonal so falls will be pendulums which might dislodge loose rock and finally the belays are set back a long way often requiring a second rope for rigging. With common sense you can get around these problems but it would be far easier to top rope on Dartmoor. If you can get to Brixham there is some good toproping here on the East and West Shelf http://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crag.php?id=410

In reply to Kafoozalem: I would second the issues with top roping at Meadfoot - you are likely to bring rocks down and get hurt.
In reply to lee2k1: Telegraph hole is possible but you need to very careful setting up and to avoid lose rock from above. If you need a partner I have some time.

In reply to lee2k1: alternatively, you could go for some DWS around Torquay which solves the toproping issue. Have a look at javu for details of the venues and routes

In reply to Kafoozalem:

I agree Pete; might also add that top roping at Meadfoot shouldn't be encouraged not only because of loose rock but also setting up belays on the living trees is not good news. Brixham is certainly a possibility. Back in the OBS Holne days we used it a lot, finishing by getting them all on some of the sea traverses. Long before H&S legislation so the instructors spent a good deal of our time fishing people out of the water!
