I've looked over the forums and logbooks, and seen the recommendations for the Mani Nudi 2 guide to the Aosta valley, but I wondered if anyone has any advice...
I'm in the first stages of thinking about a trip to visit a friend who lives in Torino. Last year we promised we'd go climb Gran Paradiso, but he doesn't have any gear or experience with winter climbing, so I was wondering what options there might be for aesthetic summer multipitch routes - trad or sport - in and around the area (Orco, Aosta, Gran Paradiso national park).
We've climbed multipitch routes together in the Lakes up to VS, but he is fairly inexperienced and I'm only operating at about HVS or about 6a+ on limestone sport routes outdoors. So... anything between very adventurous Diff (III) up to sport 6a+. Where are the best classic rock routes - something like the Piaz Arete (IV+) or... the Eliminate A (VS 4c) of the Italian Alps!
