Heading off to Leonidio on Tuesday and just wondering how the crags are at the moment as there has been some unsettled weather? In particular, does anyone know about the state of the tufas at Elona, Twin Caves etc. Also, any crag recommendations very welcome for upper 6s through 7s?

Cheers,

Alastair

Left leonidio today. It was drizzling/raining yesterday, we were at Elona to keep out of the rain. Diet dope is wet, as are Bert and ernie, may still be climbable though. We were there for a week and had ~50% rain days. Less tufa may be a better bet, Maison de chevres was dry-ish. Good luck!

Hi Alastair

I can't help with "current" conditions because we left about 3 weeks ago. However, we did have a spell of pretty crappie weather (when the UK was basking in the hottest February ever) and would recommend

Twin Caves - pretty much weather-proof and slow to seep https://rockaroundtheworld.co.uk/2019/02/26/leonidio-twin-caves-and-a-day-o...

Theos Cave - gets any sun going and very sheltered https://rockaroundtheworld.co.uk/2019/02/24/leonidio-more-theos-cave/

But not Elona which seems to stay seeping quite a while after the rain stops https://rockaroundtheworld.co.uk/2019/03/01/leonidio-elona-round-2/

In terms of crag recommendations in high 6s and 7s check out https://rockaroundtheworld.co.uk/category/greece/leonidio/ for photos and beta on more than twenty sectors. Plenty to go at

Enjoy

Cheers  Dom
