Planning a club trip to Vallouise in July. Any advice on guidebooks and best areas for climbs at lower end, 4 up to 6b. Anyone got a guidebook for sale? Thanks.
Get in touch with Jerry Gore at alpbase.com. Based in Vallouise, is a font of local knowledge and could probably help out with guidebooks too. I seem to remember several of the chalets he rents out have guidebooks in them for clients to use.
Briancon Climbs covers the whole area including Vallouise and crags east of the Ecrins. We climbed at Les Ayes, Le Sapet, Le Chambon and Le Ponteil as well as some of the Ailefroide multi pitch. Ailefroide is the place to go. Les Ayes was the best of the smaller crags we visited, but there's loads of others in the area and we only scratched the surface.
