We are heading to the Gran Paradiso area this summer.

Can anyone recommend good day walks in the area and a decent campsite please ?

You can get to Pont in about half an hours car drive from Aosta.

There's a nice 2 to 3 hour walk from Pont up to the Chabod refuge.

The Gran Paradiso national park website is a good resource for planning hikes.

There is plenty of camping in the Pont area as well as Valsavarenche.
Camping Pont Breuil at Pont
Camping Gran Paradiso a couple of minutes drive further North.

Might be out of date, but in the mid 80s there was a campsite just outside the main village in Valsaveranche that was the most beautifully set "proper" campsite I'd ever used (and might still be). When I got there I just lay back and gawped at the view. Handy for bars and shop too. Much better than the crowded one at Pont.
