Hey guys,

Going on a family weekend down near Monmouth and our Go Ape booking has fallen through!

We're thinking about taking them for a quick toppy somewhere, but I don't know the area...

Anyone got any recommendations for easy top roping crags near Monmouth/Abergavenny? 😀

Hey Will, if you're around Aber, try Gilwern hill, it's bolted, usually quiet, and you can put some ropes up. Wear helmets as the top is a bit loose.

There's a fair bit of climbing of the Wye valley, but I don't know enough about it to comment on it's suitability for top-roping. Maybe some bits of Symonds Yat might be ok.

In reply to BennoC:

I can second Gilwern as long as you can lead the routes first.

Symonds Yat would also be fine, just be sensible as it might be busy.
