In reply to Batt: We went to Lofoten last summer - we bought screw on gas on the main street in Bodø with no problems, shops have similar opening hours to the UK. There's a couple of gear shops in Svolvaer which should also sell gas.
Credit card situation is pretty similar to the UK: cash machines everywhere except small villages, most places take Visa. Can't remember if Henningsvaer had a cash machine but there was certainly one in Svolvaer. It's a pretty civilised place!
