Pyrennes Base - Family Outdoor

Hi. Ive stayed in Cauterets with the Mrs sans kids and it was great for climbing and walking etc as a base. Now with kids we would like to spend a week there and then couple somewhere esle - easy climbing, walking, mtb, swimming. Usual stuff. Anyone stayed in Bagneres de Luchon and can recommend it for bit of everything? Anywhere better? (not going as far as Ariege as ferry gets into Spain (Santander)

We stayed there a long time ago, when we were considering where to move to, and I thought Bagnères was a lovely place with a really good vibe. The main (but very significant) reason for not moving there was that there wasn't enough climbing in the valley for a lifestyle choice, though the little climbing we did there was fine.
