Looking for recommendations for a family orientated winter rock climbing venue. Climbing with my 14 yr old during the day while Mum and 12 year old enjoy lots of non climbing action.Needs to be sunny in December with plenty of lower grade bolted sport climbs.Did Calpe in Spain last year. It was perfect because of the range of crags, easy access to low cost flights into Alicante and lots of beach and leisure options for the two non climbers (essential for good family relations). Fancy somewhere different this year. Anybody got any ideas?

Great spot, but very quiet in December (as in shut) and can be a bit unsettled:

There's quite a lot to go at in the Granada area of Spain. Could base yourself on the coast at Salobrenea. Some nice adventurous gorges as well as climbing. Some details at:

Chris, do you know if any of the normal hotels / studios / apartments in Masouri are open over the Christmas period?

And also if any of the restaurants are open?

Cheers

I think some will be open if you pre-book, the place is so quiet they don't open as a rule, there isn't much passing trade!

The last couple of years Panos and the place down near the Grande Grotta path were the only restaurant open - both because the folks who run them live on the premises.

Pothia is an option, that is busy all year,

Chris
