If I were in St Petersburgh in the summer - is there any climbing?

having made the slepp to there is it worth taking the time to go to Finland?

Possibly got to go for work and it looks an interesting place but seems to be a blank in the UKC crag map (mind you the whole of Russia is blank on the UKC crag map).

AFAIK pretty much nothing in St Petersburg, but a bunch of stuff in Karelia (have a look at 27crags), afaik mainly bolted stuff (also drytooling/mixed).

A lot of russians do cross the border and climb in Finland, but I think they are atleast 5 h drive away (minus what ever the border takes).

That's a shame - I look to have multiple work trips to flat places next year, mostly hot and bothersome flat places I don't fancy going to with long spells on planes. Bah!

I think Triangular lakes is like 3 hours or so away... maybe less from St. Petetsburg... But like I said, have a look at 27crags... I recall that there's a bunch of topos (that are actually more often than not real topos, unlike UKC, which is a list of routes... which is sort of undertantable, as Rockfax is in the business of selling topos).
