Heading up to Scotland sometime next week, or whenever the weather starts to play ball...
Looking for some inside knowledge of the midge colonies for around this time. I've heard that they are ruinously bad this year, is there any substance to this statement?
Looking at heading to Sheigra, Reiff, Skye and Mull. Been up plenty of times and am well versed in the midge, however the midge forecast seems worse this year to me?
Thanks in advance.

This week on Skye they've barely made their presence felt. But I'm from Yorkshire so maybe taste a bit sour. And it has been a bit windy.

Excellent, I'm praying for wind.

Skye a couple of weeks ago.
Midge were bad,if running avoid wearing shorts going through heather when the wind picks up as well(or wear calf guards). Legs were bitten to hell, even in wind

I was on Skye a couple of weeks ago. The midges where bad at Sligachan (but then they always are) but I didn't have a problem anywhere else in the Cuillins.

(Not on your list, but I also spent some time in the Cairngorms around Glenmore / Loch Avon / Glen Avon and didn't notice much midge activity there either.)
In reply to Callum Smith:

Looks OK for midges for the next few days as its to be cool, wet and breezy, however it will be crap for climbing.
