Hi All,

I'm thinking of heading to St Bees for the bank holiday weekend at the end of the month as I've never been before, but have got a fairly long drive to get there.

Can anyone tell me how much of the bouldering will be affected by any bird restrictions that are/will be in place?

Also, which guidebook would you reccomend most?

Any help or advice would be much appreciated as to bouldering at St Bees, or suggestions for alternative areas!

Thanks

Nick

The bouldering's superb, perhaps the best mid-grade destination in the country. I didn't find that Fleswick Bay was worthwhile though (seeps amazingly and is a bit of walk if there's nothing to climb). The Rockfax Lakes bouldering guide is excellent with good photo topos, although the first time I went I didn't have a guide and there are plenty enough great looking lines just to go and try the obvious stuff.

I wasn't aware that the bouldering was affected by restrictions, check the BMC website.

It's amazing and more than enough to keep you busy for a BH weekend ( i am guessing i haven't seen your profile ).

Bird restrictions affect only a very small amount of the bouldering.

Have a look on Lakesbloc for the most up to date and free topos.
