Toulon area

Staying in Toulon for a week in March. Does anyone know if it is feasible to walk from the town to the crags on Mt Faron or if car hire is essential.  Will be arriving by train and will probably need a car to get to other places in the area but would rather not hire a car for the whole week if I dont have to

There's a telepherique up Mt. Faron and you can walk down if you like.  Some of the sectors are really low down and you can easily walk there.  Citernes is no more than 15 minutes walk from the 20 bus terminus.  Careful though the buses finish about 20:30 except at weekends. Btw the local book includes some North facing sectors at Faron. Any  questions let me know as I'm exploring that area
