Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any experience of via ferrata in the Italian Alp?

Thinking of going there in the summer.  Did the Dolomites two years ago and the Chamonix area last year with some alpine mountaineering as well.

Thought the Aosta valley may be quite good as we could mix a bit of via ferrata with some easier alpine climbing (last year was the first timd for the kids and they want to develop it).

Can't seem to find any guide books or any real information on the area.

Grateful if anyone has any suggestions of where we could get info from or if it is not a good area where would be good to base from for 4 days via ferrata and 4 days alpine.

Thanks

Hi

Sorry cant help with the Italian Alps, but can with another option if that doesn't work out for you.

The Écrins, Brandon (France) side I have made a free via ferrata guide app that covers all the 26 routes in this area, and also gives you the options for some easy alpine climbing and rock?

Apple - https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/écrins-briançon-via-ferrata/id1348658640?...

Android - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.skiroute16.viaferrata.ecr...

I live here so also happy to help if you have any questions or would recommendations.

cheers Rob

Thank you. App is very good - downloaded last night.  Still thinking about it - but may a few days based from Chamonix to do some alpine climbing (we did the Cosmiques Arete and Aguille du Tour last year) and then head down to Brandon for a bit of Via Ferrata.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Shane
