3rd party mapping for Garmin etrex 30x

I'm looking to install detailed mapping onto a new GPS as the existing mapping is very basic.

I'd like to load maps of the UK and alps and as the high quality Garmin maps are very expensive I wondered if anyone has used their cheaper raster version or 3rd party maps from talky toaster or any other 3rd party provider?

I noticed on the talky toaster website he offers a dedicated 1:50k map of the alps stretching from France to Austria!

TalkyToaster and others, based off the compilation of OpenStreetMaps data is good. Easy to put on a card. Try it out, I doubt you will be dissapointed.

I used some very impressive Greek maps compiled this way a while back. The level of detail was seriously impressive.
