We’re coming to the end of a trip to the alps and have a few days left - were hoping to get on Mont Blanc but huts are full. Can anyone recommend a hut where we could spend 2 nights and do 2 routes, ideally on 4000ers, up to PD? We’re feeling strong and well acclimatised, mostly looking for snow routes with not too much rock (happy on rock but we don’t move too quickly!).
Looking at the Mischabel hut to do the Nadelhorn, with the Ulrichshorn the day before although that doesn’t look that interesting, so any other suggestions appreciated! — looking for recommendations.
Always worth ringing the Gouter hut early morning (after 9 am ish) on the day you want to go or the afternoon before. They normally have cancellations and are looking to fill them.
Up to Klein Matterhorn using the cable car, then your choice of Breithorn, Castor, Pollux, descend to hut on Italian side (a few choices) , then up to the Monte Rosa group the next day and bag a few more 4000m summits! Could even do a night at the 4500m Margherita hut on top of Signalkuppe...Have to plan the descent route with care, though
