Altitude and Tachycardia

Hi all,

What are the implications of taking someone with pre-existing tachycardia to altitude? I'm not sure of the specifics of the person in question, so lets say resting HR of over 100 BPM, and ascent to 3000m from sea level for a night, then to 3300m for a second night.

Heart rate will increase with altitude until acclimatised thus raising resting heart rate with the possibility of MI if exertion is added to this.

Are you going up in a lift or walking up?

I would suggest the person needs to see their GP to ascertain the cause.
