I'm planning to ride between Saigon and Hanoi. Just beginning to gather info about journey and thought it might be worth posting here for any insight/advice on journey?
Does anyone know a more appropriate forum I could post this on?

In reply to bryn keating: We went to Vietnam at Easter this year with a CTC trip from Hanoi around the North. I suggest getting in touch with Pat and John from http://www.comebiking.com/ for advice. We were pretty remote (didn't see other westerners for most of the trip) so found having a local vietnamese guide invaluable. It was a fantastic trip, in a beautiful cycling country.

Can't help specifically, but for encouragement a couple of friends of mine spent a couple of weeks touring Vietnam and Cambodia on a tandem on their own with no real issues.

One thing was they found it too hot to ride much and ended up putting the bike on buses a lot to make the distance.

I reccommend cycling through Cambodia. I live in Phnom Penh, and just cycled to Sen Monorom in Mondulkiri before Christmas. Here's a short report with pics.

I also pedaled a cyclo to Siem Reap once. Here's some pics:

Get in touch if you decide to come to Cambodia!
