Do geologists think that the Himalayas are still being forced higher, or is erosion now gradually reducing heights? Would humans eventually see the first 9000 metre peak if they avoid extinction for long enough?
By the time Everest has grown another five metres, mean sea level will probably be ten metres higher meaning that Everest will have shrunk nominally by five metres. Best to tick it now....eventually the summit will be only a metre above sea level.
