Flood in the Seti River by snow avalanche from Annapurna

Pokhara, 5 May. Flood in the Seti River has taken nine lives and fifty are yet missing reported. The avalanche in the Annapurna Himalayan range has caused the massive flood. Among the missing ones, three are Russian tourists and two are students at a picnic. Details are awaited. The flood has also swept away about half a dozens of settlement area including five trucks, bridges, dozen houses, trees and encroached agricultural lands. Two buses carrying students for a picnic at Khaarapani have also been swept away by the flood.

In reply to trekkingencounters: This is sad news. I saw a flood as the result of a landslide when in Peru and it's a very scary thing to be witness to. It's also a reminder just how powerful nature can be and why I recommend camping high above rivers and not in gorges.

Let's hope they find more survivors than bodies.
