Hi,

I've been skiing only once before for a two week holiday, but have finally become rich enough to warrant going again. I want to head out in around February for 10 days in the Alps, but don't know anyone to go with.

I can get down reds at the moment (or could at the time!) and am keep to push my level and become a better skier with the aim to do some ski mountaineering at some point in coming years.

What does everyone suggest I do?

In reply to FreeloaderJoe: what about a course with UCPA ? not looked recently but used to be very good value for money (think they are subsidised by the French state)
http://www.ucpa-vacances.com/sport/ski-alpin/ for alpine downhill but they also offer xc & ski touring

I usually go on my own and do both chalet and hotel based holidays. Chose a ski company that offers an "ambassador" or similar "get to know the area" service. You can chose a group of similar level skiers and go out with them. This way you will quickly meet a nucleus of people of similar ability and generally like minded people.

Otherwise go for a dedicated singles/solo holiday. Most emphasise that they are not a dating agency, just a means of allowing solo skiers to meet.

Good forum for partners, also organised trips "bashes"
