I can't believe it. I'd long considered him to indestructible, and with good reason. Terrible news, he must rank amongst the very strongest and hardest of Himalayan climbers.
Yes, I know Jerry was partnering on Broad Peak with Rick, but seems they had different objectives on K2. To be attempting a new route on K2 at 66 is an incredible testimony to his strength in the Greater Ranges. Not much else to say really.
