Hi anyone know of a guide who can help me for a couple of days climbing Mont Blanc at end of July? I don't want the big package, just assistance on a 2 day climb. Alternatively, does anyone know someone who might be interested in pairing up?

Thanks

In reply to arch the parch: What you want and what any Guide sensibly wants to do won't necessarily be the same thing.

If you want to hire a Guide, use the webform on the BMG website and anyone who is free can get back to you http://www.bmg.org.uk/index.php/eng/Hire-a-Guide

To be honest the choice is pretty much between: hiring a Guide for a week and definitely learning loads and getting some great mountaineering done or not hiring a Guide for a week and possibly or possibly not get to a summit. Trying to fit ascents of routes like Mont Blanc into fixed 2-day windows is just a Fool's errand.

I can vouch that Rob Jarvis at High Mountain Guides is a good guy...good chat and enjoyable to be out in the mountains with. I've previously been on skiing courses run by him.

I've also heard first hand that Johnny Baird is good, but have no direct experience with him.

I also suspect that any of the Guides qualified through BMG will be pretty good...

In reply to arch the parch:

Without acclimatization climbs prior to Mont Blanc you’re bound to fail reaching the summit due to AMS… You have to be physically fit and already acclimatized to high altitude if you want to get a chance to reach the summit.
That being said, you can always go to the “Bureau des Guides” near the Saint Michel Church in Chamonix and hire a guide.
