Guy has been raising the bar set by veteran soloist Bill McLeod in the 80's/90's with some stunning ascents of some of NZ's last great problems and seldom climbed challenges.. Popes Nose seldom comes into condition and this ascent "walk in walk out" combined with the attempted link up of Mt Aspirings remote N.E Face is raising eyebrows.

Jeez Louise, that's a hell of an ascent. Even getting to the bottom of the Nose is serious especially in winter; and crossing the Bonar after no worthwhile sleep by yourself in a blizzard has a lot of potential too. Then there's the small matter if the ascent. Respect.

Keep making those good decisions Guy

That was probably not from when Guy climbed it ( the topo) but when others have been in to try it when you could still helicopter in.

Well done Guy; that is probably the finest ascent in NZ alpinism in a generation.
F.T.P. was on my list in 2005/2006 when I lived there, but I didn't get anywhere near it in winter.
This ascent is a perfect example of technique, speed, commitment and good judgment; I'm glad to see that the flame of Kiwi alpinism is still smoldering in a few individuals.
Well done again Guy,
James
