Last week the New York Times announced they were starting a new feature in their obituaries column. Essentially, since they started running obituaries in 1851, 80% have been for men. So they will now run a daily feature where they publish obituaries for women they overlooked. You can read about it here:

yesterday, they ran one for Alison Hargreaves, the first woman (and second person) to summit Everest solo without oxygen. It's a nice piece.
