Noticed in the BBC London marathon coverage a British ex-para did the London marathon with an 18kg rucksac on (containing amongst other things a climbing rope...)in a nutty time of around 3h30.

Do we have the next Ueli Steck here?

The article made it sound like 18kg was the standard weight, or he had broken some kind of official record!

Amazing anyway.

In reply to kamon: There was a guy in a Borat Mankini, and nothing else other than his race number. Must provide strong motivation to finish since giving up part way and going to the finish on the Tube to get your bag is not much of an option.

In reply to kamon: Bloomin 'eck, and here's me worrying about the Great North Run! There was talk of us doing it with rucksacks (for Mountain Rescue) but mine would be stuffed with a down sleeping bag and nothing else!

Great effort
