Hi,

Have you done Alta Via 4 in the Dolomites?  Would you recommend wearing:

• approach shoes
• walking boots
• mountaineering boots?

What are the pros and cons in your opinion?

Also, any other tips about this route?

I did it in GTX mid tennies which were great, but tbh any approach shoe is probably absolutely fine. I think mountaineering boots would be big overkill.

The approach to the first hut over the pass to the west rather than from the north is worth a look.
