I got a pair of Sherpa Lithang bib pants for winter climbing and ski touring. They seem pretty good apart from the bottom of the legs is ridiculously baggy like a 70's flare!

Anyone know if i take them to get altered by a normal tailors will it ruin the water proofing. Is there some special technique/the way its sewn or special thread used so the stitching doesnt draw in water on these types of garment?

My work around at the moment is to slap well fitting gaiters over the top.

Cheers.

I have a pair of hard shell trousers that are quite baggy around the calves but they have a velcro strap which can cinch them up. Would be quite an easy modification to make and then just seam seal the stitching behind.
