Have DMM discontinued the Demon cam? I assume sales weren't high enough for a single axle cam? Which means there's only Metolius now making a premium single axle cam?

... plus the various Alien clones.

When are you bringing out your single-axle "Alpine cams"?

Haha - what alpine cams...

Was it not made of left over bits when the 4CU was discontinued? A Dragon stem with 4CU head IIRC. In which case I'd guess they don't make them anymore.

Well I think the cams were pretty much WC Tech Friend extrusion, which had been used for 4CU and then the Demons, and yeah the Demon was more or less a WC yech friend with a pigsnose, give or take a bit... seems like a slightly curious move but maybe it's not?

I've no horse in this race but your choice of crisps is 5 star.

Incidentally I might be lying due to poor memory but we were at DMM last year and I'm 99% Ben said they discontinued it because they wanted to focus on the Dragon or some such.

Totem cams would count as a premium cam though, surely? I thought they were single axle.

Sure, I suppose I mean full sized and traditional style, totems are somewhat exotic. I mean theres things like the super cam and technically the link cam, but I’d say they are all rather specialised. I know it’s not trendy to say it but totems fall into that category, I remain unconvinced as to how much better totems are in general every day use. Unless placements are really marginal I don’t see a significant increase in performance. Indeed you could make an argument that the increased holding power comes at the cost of increased outward force, which would make it more likely for you to break flakes etc if you’re daft enough to place a cam behind one. I’ll make a caveat for narrow pockets and horizontal breaks where head width and flexibility are better...
