Just got a garmin 6 fenix

have calibrated the compass, but the display is wildly out

going into the  settings it shows the magnetic variation set at 127 East. I can set this to the correct local value.

shouldn’t the watch know where it is from its  own position and adjust this automatically ?

any ideas ?

In reply to Tim Davies:

I've got a much cheaper Garmin and mine lets me choose Mag, True, Grid or User (where you set the Dev). On the first three it's doing it from position I assume.

In reply to Philip:

Same on this one- it knows where it is on the planet.

In reply to Tim Davies:

On a Fenix 5 one sets the mode to 'Auto' (scroll down below from the calibrate option) - your watch should have a similar option.
