Hello! I’ve just pulled some gear out of my backpack which got rained on three days ago, and the gear is damp (I didn’t realise how badly it had rained!). Are there any issues with this gear that’s been sat in there damp for three days (it also spent one night in the car but I don’t think the temperature got below freezing)?

The gear is: dyneema slings, quickdraws (dyneema in between), Prussik cord, some carabiners (assuming they’re fine).

Thanks!!

Apart from the smell and the tendency to go mouldy if you don't now dry it out it will be fine. Happens all the time, three days is basically fresh by a lot of people's standards.

I know this does apply here but if it got wet via sea water and / or is dirty or gritty I'd plunge it in a sink of cold water for a clean and rinse first and then check any metal components for corrosion and lubrication (eg karabiner gates and cams).

Much better than when I’d leave my sweaty squash kit in the bag overnight.

3 days in the damp sounds like a typical Scottish weekend...
