Memory map GPS users? Happy?

Bought a memory map 3500 (with marine for sea kayaking)

For the second time today in less than a year, looks like it's going back to memory map.

Battery life less than 5 hours (and this is without hardly using it...just logging a track)

When working the unit is great but I'm becoming less impressed with it.

I find the user interface very poor and very inaccurate when trying to type.

What are other peoples experiences? Is satmap a better unit?

Thoughts appreciated!
In reply to Ruub: I have a garmin Etrex 20 and so far it's pretty good. 5 hours battery time is exceptionally poor - I've had three full days on the same AA Alkaline batteries (duracell). I can't see why they thought it was a good idea to have an internal battery on the MM devices!
