I've just got a Montane Alpine Spirit Jacket from online. The fit seems fine except that the sleeves come down beyond the base of my fingers. It seems too long. Is this going to really annoy me? I suppose it could protect my hands from the rain, but also they could get in my way when I'm trying to hold things. There are velcro fasteners on the wrists, but if it's hot I won't really want to have to do them up. Plus they might lose their effectiveness over time. I'm wondering whether to send it back because of this.

In reply to Arbu:

Jackets designed for the alpine tend to have an athletic fit and slightly exaggerated arm length so you can extend your arms over your head and wear layers underneath without the sleeve pulling backwards or bunching up to expose your wrists.

You might want to give that a go before sending it back!

OK, thanks. I'm no ice climber, but certainly there are times when I am raising my arms and would appreciate the longer arms - looking through binoculars for one thing. I'll keep it.
