I'm thinking of getting a Montane featherlite 35L sac for a forthcoming alpine trip. It's less than half the weight of my Deuter 35L.

Before I drive somewhere to check one out can anyone tell me if it's possible to attach a pair of poles to the outside as well as an axe.

Hi,

You mean this one, right? http://www.facewest.co.uk/Montane-Featherlite-Alpine-35.html

I have one, although not used it yet. Just had a play, and yes there is at least one way - assuming your poles have wrist loops: larks foot the pole handles through the wrist loops around the lower compression strap.

I've taken some pictures: https://flic.kr/s/aHskzN5zB2

Yes, thanks for that, cunning little trick. I've seen one on offer for £59.99. will order one. Thanks again.

You're welcome! I picked mine up at about the same price. Seems like a decent little piece of kit, and well-made. Dunno how much scraping it's going to take, of course...
