Recently bought an extendable 80/120 litre bag from decathlon for €60.
Seems durable enough. I'll report back in a few years

The plastic clips for the bottom of the back straps are the same design as the ME version and will break. Quite interesting though the clips are not present in the stock photo at the bottom?

Interesting that you suggest a hip belt would be an improvement. Not that I disagree but this is one further step to what? A Rucksack!
