Full set of these (8 in total) for £194.99. From Everything Outdoors online.
I'm tempted, but would it be a bad choice?
they are good cams, I've had a couple for years (20 ish)
Buy them quick, before they change their mind
The first cam I had was a number 3 Rock Empire and it's always felt good to place, one of the wires is now frayed but that's 20 years down the line
I have a set of RE Axels. Have taken falls on most of them including the small 0.25 and 0.5. Certainly not state of the art high end cams but they do the job.
Obviously quite a bit heavier than the BD Cams.
Rock Empire is a budget option. Certainly good, cheap, and strong enough.
more spendy options might have a nicer feel and be lighter or fancier. But for a lot more dough.
as with others here, my first set of Cams was also from RE. Had a lovely trip to Praque and raided a Hudysports shop for those. Also brought some Triop jammies to Finland. And thats also about 20 years ago.
Nobody has said no way! I remain tempted!
Yes it'd be a bad choice
But only because it;s actually cheaper to buy the individual 8 cams on the same web page (£174 if my maths is right)
There's also the small matter of not actually being able to order them
Oh! hadn't got that far! too good to be true as usual then!
Seems like nothing on that site leads to a "place order" page.
Bergfreunde.eu (or actually .de) has both RE Comets (single axel) and Axels (double axel, so DMM Dragon, new WC Friend, DB C4 copies). at a reasonable price.
Not sure if they also had a UK specific webpage (AlpineTrek?) and how Brexit affects things.
But certainly worth having a look.
Rock Empire cams are made by Kouba in the EU. Kouba cams are for sale in the UK; drop this search into Google:

I have a full set of their Manta cams, and find them stable and easy to place.
cheers v useful
will have a look thanks
I tried ordering from Kouba website but as soon as you say you are in UK, all of a sudden the payment and delivery sections of the order form get greyed out. Other countries are fine.
