Hi

I would like to make some snow pickets for belaying in snow. The bit I can't do is attach the cable (4mm stainless steel wire) to the picket and create an eye in the wire at the other end for a carabiner. 

Hence I'm after someone with the tools and skill in exchange for beer or some pickets. I'm sure I could get a simple tool and give it a go, but it would be good to have a skilled person involved before belaying off them. 

Or is this so simple I should just get on with it.?

Get down your local sailmaker/rigger/yacht chandler, they´ll do it cheap enough.

Does it have to be steel cable? Would 7 mm cord not do?

But surely it's just a case of swaging the wire? No comments on strength tho!

Seeing as it's stuck in snow the swaging isn't going to be the weak part of the system.
