As per the title, any advise on a powerfull head torch for the above activities would be greatly appreciated. I was hoping to spend not much over £150

Cheers

Any preference over battery powered/rechargable? The Silva Runner or Trail Speed models look good, i've been thinking about them myself. I've heard good things about the Petzl Nao and you actually get a relatively decent ratio of lumens to price if you want to look at it that way.
I currently use a Mammut X-Shot which is OK but the highest setting (200 lumens) is only a 30 second boost mode which isn't great for longer technical sections. Also, the brightest mode is quite a concentrated flood which doesn't give me as much field of vision as I would like. It's worth looking at how the lumens are used (i.e spot or flood) and which would suit your needs best

Cheers for that, I would prefer rechargeable. The review above was interesting

In reply to mugglewump:I've been using the Silve Pave (slightly lower rated than the new Silva Trail Speed Elite at 550 Lumens) on my helmet and a Lezyne Megadrive on the bars. Very pleased with both.

I'm hoping to get a Tikka RXP for christmas, for my slower moving activities. I'll let you know how I get on with it, they look very good and I've always been happy with Petzl build quality and warranty.

Both sites take a "bit of navigating" but some cheap knock offs of high brand stuff. Have heard good things about:

Though shipping takes a while from States.

Cheers,

Have a look at ayup lights. Not the brightest on a bike but perfectly usable and you can now get a set with a really good head band.

My advice if you want information from really hard core lumen freaks, is not to waste your time on a climbing forum but instead find a fell running or mountain biking website and ask there. Horses for courses.

I agree with run ross run.
Silva runner. Expensive, but brilliant.

I have a Mammut X-Sun.

It is insanely bright. Rechargeable. Well built. Not criminally heavy.

If you really need super bright, this is a great option.
