I'm off to the Red Squirrel in a week or so and am taking a 3 man tent (just for me) but when I was last there noticed a few tarps lashed to trees and taking a fair bit of weather off the tents.

Seems a good plan for sitting out too....any reccommendations for a tarp (not pricey)?

I bought one from Decathlon a few years ago - came with a couple of poles so effectively free-standing. Really excellent

The Red Squirrel used to be prone to flooding. May have changed over the last couple of decades but I have avoided it due to the flooding I've seen there and the (then) owner's furious blaming of it on the local council, not the river or himself.....

DD Hammocks do a 3mx3m tarp at £30 which is pretty well rated. Otherwise Alpkit's Rig 7 at £50 has a more technical silnylon fabric.
